With reference to the correspondence ending
with your letter No.1067/1917 dated the 20th June, 1917, I am
directed to inform you that in the circumstances explained
the Governor-General of India in Council has been pleased to
exempt by order in writing under rule 4 of the Defence of
India (Passport) Rules, 1917, all natives of India travelling
from Hongkong to India from the operation of rule 3 of the
said Rules provided that they are in possession of permita
(with photographs) issued by the Superintendent of Police at
Hongkong. These permits should contain a full description of
the bearer.
2.
I am to request that copies of all such permits
(with photographs) may be furnished to the Government of
India, who should also continue to be apprised by cable, sa at
present, of all Indians returning to India from Hongkong.
